CLUTCH PEDAL STOPPER

The clutch stopper that came on stock E36s was way too short and made out of cheap plastic. In many cases, they ended up having their threads stripped off and ended up buried all the way in the firewall. The solution for this is replacing the stock plastic stopper with a 3/8" x 1 W" steel elevator bolt. It only takes a few minutes and costs next to nothing. The difference is shorter clutch pedal travel and a more solid feel than the stock plastic one. Just make sure the bolt is no longer than 1 W", as anything longer won’t allow the clutch pedal to go down far enough to engage the clutch start safety switch. You can put a 1 W felt pad commonly used to protect floors from scratches on the flat surface of it so the clutch pedal doesn’t make noise when it contacts the metal bolt. Although it’s a small job, it feels like it should have come from the factory like this.
